Car trend in India is on a rapid spree. Car manufacturers are undeniably putting in their best brains at work to provide more features, more style, more comfort and more safety. Here is an article that highlights the latest launches that are going to drive the new breed of driving enthusiasts.
MARUTI SUZUKI ERTIGA FACELIFT:
Maruti Ertiga entered the market in 2012, ever since it hasn’t received any update. However, with the increase in demand and the rise in competition Maruti Suzuki has finally given Ertiga a new and refined upgrade.
The updated Suzuki Ertiga has received a couple of interesting changes on the exterior and interior. The diesel has also received a tweak.
The new Ertiga has received minor cosmetic changes that are present and make it a little different from its predecessor. The most obvious change is the two-slat grille that is placed instead of the current four-slat. The car has chrome embellished on it to enhance the appeal. The front air intakes of the car are slightly changed in accordance with the bumper. The sides have retained the same silhouettes but, there is an addition of the electronically foldable OVRM. The rear profile also gets a taste of chrome with a few obvious modifications to make it appear a tad different than the current model.
The Facelift has pretty much the same layout similar to the predecessor model. The addition lies in the features that are quite similar to the ones found in the Swift Dzire facelift. This MUV gets the start-stop button as a standard addition (on the top end variant). The car’s music system is upgraded to give it a better connectivity. The Hybrid variants of Ertiga come with OVRM mirrors. Not bad for upgrades and such, it is surely a satisfying upgrade.
The Petrol power train on this vehicle has not been touched. The engine provides the same power from its 1.4 litre petrol consuming 94 bhp, 130 Nm torque producing engine. However, if you’re a diesel head and are hoping for good news, the Ertiga will surely make your day. The Diesel variant comes mated onto SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology. This technology improves the efficiency of the car to a great extent. The car comes with a 1.3 litre Fiat Multi Jet diesel engine that produces 89 bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque. A large battery along with excellent braking and an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) comes accompanied with this car.
The price of the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga ranges from Rs. 5.82 lakhs to Rs. 8.60 lakhs. Maruti has aggressively priced this car to give it more credibility on roads.
Volkswagen albeit its moment of turmoil, has not forgotten to contribute new cars, with extra “concern” over pollution. The company recently launched its new and refreshed successfully running sedan-the Vento.
The new Vento Facelift edition has additional features, new engine with better mileage, a more ornately designed body and a well-built C-segment sedan finish.
This new vehicle certainly takes on the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz as well as Hyundai Verna. Here is a review on the new face-lift vento:
On the outside, the design language of the new Vento hasn’t changed much. The layout of the body panel remains almost the same. The new Vento exudes the typical VW layout of the body panel. The front and rear end have taut shoulder lines accompanied with a compact profile. There are however a few subtle updates in terms of the design that make differentiation possible.
The bonnet on this car has been re-profiled and has deeper creases along with triple chrome slats and a new front grille.
The car also gets new front air dam, new front fog lamps and integrated cornering lights. Although, the design language doesn’t speak out loud with prominence, the details have been set in quite an intricate fashion that differentiates the face lifted version over its predecessor.
Volkswagen seems to have been a little sly with the Interior design of the new Vento. However, the new color themes come with a new equipment list according to the car’s trim level. The new Vento gets cruise control, cooled glove box and a dead pedal that adds to the new feature list. Standard features on this car include climate control, rear parking sensors, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors, ABS, twin airbags and a rather good sounding audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. Interiors have been tweaked a little, but the feature set seems to have gathered a few likes.
The car’s diesel version features a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 103bhp of power @4400rpm and 250Nm of torque @1550rpm. This TDI unit makes peak power at 2,000rpm and redlines at nearly 6,000rpm. The petrol model of this car comes with 1.6-litre MPI or the 1.2-litre turbocharged TSI engine. The latter produces 105bhp of power and 175Nm of torque, while the 1.6 MPI engine produces 105bhp of power and 153Nm of torque. The company offers a 5-speed and a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox in accordance with the versions.
The new facelift version of the vento starts from Rs 7.70 lakh for the entry-level 1.6-litre petrol, going all the way to Rs 11.6 lakh for the top-end diesel with DSG gearbox. Overall, this vehicle is a great choice for those looking for a comfortable family sedan.

SKODA ANNIVERSARY EDITION:
As a part of their anniversary celebration, Skoda has launched a commemorative Anniversary Edition Octavia. The third iteration of the Skoda Octavia holds a lot of promise and has a complete overhaul in terms of exteriors and interiors based on the Vision D concept.
Skoda has transcended towards the introduction of soft lines and rounded edges to change Octavia’s look into a premium and modish car. The car gets LED DRL’s and a new front grille and carries vertical stats, thereby making it look plenty aggressive. The new Octavia has quite a sustainably long and wide body. This makes it quite spacious especially giving a lot of cabin space for the passengers.
The interiors of the new Rapid comes with s significantly improved faux wood trims complimented with a beige theme. The overall design of the Rapid is pretty standard though. The top end variant of this car comes with a touch screen music system and has front and rear parking sensors. It also has six airbags, ABS-EBD,ESP, traction control, steering mounted audio controls, power seat for the driver with memory function, rear AC vents and rear sunblind. The rear row gets better legroom; however, like before the under thigh support is not optimum. There are ample cubbyholes that double-up as bottle holders at the front, while the space in the rear armrest can be adjusted to fit any size of bottle or even cup. The new edition comes with the ‘SmartLink connectivity’ for the first time in the Indian market. This allows the customers to use selected smart phone apps on the car’s infotainment system screen.
The 1.4 TSI petrol engine develops 138bhp and 250Nm torque mated six-speed manual transmission while the higher powered 1.8 TSI petrol develops 178bhp and 250Nm mated to seven-speed DSG transmission.
The 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine develops 141bhp and 320Nm of torque. The diesel unit is available with six-speed manual and six-speed DSG transmissions.
The Skoda Octavia Anniversary Edition is priced at Rs 15.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and will be available at Skoda dealerships for a limited period only.
