Skoda Rapid Spaceback- An Overview

The Skoda Rapid which was launched in 2012 is bigger than the Fabia and smaller than the Octavia hatch. Keeping this in mind, Skoda recently launched its Skoda Rapid Spaceback for people looking forward to a more stylish and cheaper car. The Skoda Rapid Spaceback is a hatch version of the regular Skoda Rapid and with no doubt it looks way edgier than any hatch.

SKODA Rapid Spaceback

One thing that should be kept in mind is that the Skoda rapid spaceback is not an estate version of the regular skoda rapid and rather it is a traditional five door hatch. Spaceback offers a good suspension however; some exterior appearances like the long nose and short rear overhang can make the car look very peculiar. Comparing it with the regular Rapid, the Rapid spaceback is 180mm shorter in length but identical from the front grille to the rear doors. The rear obviously takes a shape of a conventional hatchback.

INTERIOR

Coming to the interiors, the wheelbase of both the Rapids are same and therefore the spacious interiors remain by and large, unchanged. The Dash is made of hard and black plastic but the design is robust and sophisticated and same as the regular skoda rapid. Spaceback comes in with attractive 17-inch alloy wheels (Elegance version) and extra glass in the rear hatch. It is also decked up with improvements such as a revised multi-function steering wheel, a neater stereo installation, and new trims and seat fabrics, electro-mechanical power steering instead of a hydraulic set-up. The only problem with the ride is its over firmness. The boot space of this car is 415 litre but still roomier than any of its rival hatchbacks.

Skoda Rapid Spaceback is surely a thumbs up when it comes to space and style. The rear legroom is very much spacious followed by excellent headroom and many more storage spaces. There is a giant panoramic glass sunroof too. Other features include air-conditioning, remote central locking, electric front windows, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and an alarm. Mid-spec SE trim adds body-colored door handles and mirrors, 15-inch alloy wheels, a glove box, a multi-function steering wheel, Bluetooth, rear parking sensors, cruise control, front fog lights, electric rear windows and a front center armrest. The Elegance variant which is the top most variant also get bigger alloys, climate control, a height-adjustable passenger seat and many more! Skoda has also done some practical designing like the ice scraper which is concealed on the fuel tank cap, a multimedia device bracket to hold a phone, a removable waste basket in the door paneling holder and a warning vest holder under the driver’s seat.

SAFETY

Skoda has played very clever when it comes to the safety of its passengers. It comes with a wide range of safety measures such as ESC (Electronic Stability Control) including ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and six airbags. When the curtain airbags are activated, it creates a wall to protect passengers in both the front and rear from potential head injuries.

ENGINE

Skoda Rapid spaceback comes in four variants- S, SE, Elegance and GreenLine specs. It comes with a 55 KW 1.2 Litre MPI engine which reaches 0-100 KM at 13.8 seconds and has a maximum speed of 173 KMPH. Similarly, it also comes with 63 KW/73 KW 1.2 Litre TSI engine. It also comes in diesel 1.6 TDI engine with different power outputs ranging from 66 KW and 77 KW. 66 KW 1.6 TDI and 90 KW 1.4 TSI engines are mated with seven speed DSG automatic transmission. The 90 KW 1.4 litre TSI engine reaches 100 km in 9.4 seconds having a maximum speed of 203km/h. Skoda Spaceback is an environment friendly car emitting Carbon dioxide ranging from 114-134 g/km.

FEATURES

Start stop system- The start stop system automatically switches off the engine when the vehicle is stopped thereby saving fuel and preventing the vehicle from emitting pollutants.

How does it work? When the driver stops the vehicle and shifts the gear to neutral, releasing the clutch pedal, the engine switches off automatically. The engine starts when the driver shift’s gears.

Energy recovery- What it basically does is makes the kinetic energy into usable electricity. This saves the fuel which would be otherwise used up to charge the battery.

BOTTOMLINE

The Skoda Rapid Spaceback was launched in 2014 in the United Kingdom. Skoda Rapid Spaceback is not yet launched in the Indian market. It will be a clear hit once it launches in India. The skoda Rapid spaceback is aimed at the younger buyers as it looks sporty and chick. It is very affordable and is also for the family.

HYUNDAI GENESIS -THE ORIGIN OF SAFETY

With a lot of money at stake and an ever increasing demand for cars, it has become mandatory for major car manufacturers to provide something more substantial, something more cutting edge in shortsomething like the Hyundai Genesis. Luxury has become a commonality. Safety is what brings us closer to experiencing a good drive. The Hyundai Genesis (2015), a mid size sedan would definitely entice the world with its top notch high end features and the security to keep you assured.

Overview:

Luxury cars are growing traditional and clichéd. With a lot of money at stake, the buyer has certainly a hangar of cars to choose from. The buying decision lies in the most intricate details [Wife for those who are married 😉 ] Apart from the design aesthetics, Technology is also essential when it comes to buying a car.

With the word safety being thrown around, I am “safely” going to cut to the chase and analyze all the features that Hyundai proudly flaunts.

Hyundai Genesis-Other Word for Safety! Check the Video below:

SAFETY FEATURES:

Auto Braking System:

With unreliable traffic and uncertain roads, the chances of colliding your car with another seem probable. However, Hyundai has equipped the new Genesis with an Automatic braking feature that works in coordination with inbuilt cameras as well as the radar sensors that detect any obstacle. You might not be able to view anything while driving your car during foggy conditions, but the genesis works with its “spidey like senses” that detect any obstacle. Even if the driver shows signs of giving up before a catastrophic accident, as a last resort the Genesis applies its full braking force to stop the car.

Lane Departure Warning & Lane Keep Assist feature:

Moving on and crossing lanes in a traffic-flooded road can definitely require trained hands and judgment skills. The Genesis features its Lane Assist Feature that comes in handy by automatically detecting the driver’s difficulty while trying to shift to another lane and provides gentle handling capability to the driver. If the vehicle slips out of the current lane, the Haptic Feedback System will take care of such hassles and allows the vehicle to get back on track.

Blind Spot Detector and Rear Cross Traffic Alert System:

With its radar system, the Genesis easily detects blind spots that are very dangerous and it notifies the driver with its audio and video

Cruise Control:

Cruise worry free with the all-new cruise control system that automatically adjusts your cruising speed. It also adapts to the speed of the car going in front of you. What’s cool is that the car will completely come to a halt and start again even with the absence of a driver.

LCD Safety Display

The Genesis also comes with a heads up display and another 7-inch LCD color Display, providing vital information like the driver’s line of sight, the navigation speed, the Blind spot detection etc.

Hyundai Genesis camera safety

HID Headlight assist feature:

One major cause of verbal abuse on Indian roads is the usage of the “dimmer-dipper” while driving at night. However careless you are or the other driver might be, the Genesis shows its road safety manners quite amicably. The dimmer and dipper are adjusted automatically when a car is detected in front of you.

Air Bags:

Hyundai has been quite magnanimous with its Air bag facility in the Genesis, gracing all the passengers with an Air bag each, providing a breath taking 9- Air bags. What’s really cool in addition is that the driver is provided with a knee airbag too.

TECHNOLOGY:

Smart Trunk:

The car might have seemed as smart as your phone but Hyundai took the safety features to newer levels. Even the trunk of the Genesis is smart. Imagine you are out with your wife or girlfriend (irrespective) after a thrilling shopping experience; odds are that both your hands would be full (with shopping bags)and the Hyundai Genesis is one friend that you can rely on. Once you are done shopping and move close to the car’s trunk (approx 3 ft) and stay for 3 seconds or so, the trunk would automatically open. Quite a relief isn’t it ?(Don’t get your hopes high, I was talking about placing only the shopping bags in the trunk and not the reason for those bags 😛 )

Hyundai Genesis boot trunk

C02 Sensor:

No other car has this technology. The genesis is the world’s first car that has an inbuilt C02 sensor. While driving, any car would absorb Carbon Dioxide. The sensors built in the Hyundai Genesis detect the Carbon Dioxide and thereby activates the car’s ventilation to intake ample amount of fresh air.

Tyre Pressure Sensor:

Hyundai Genesis indicates which tyre is running low on air and needs refilling.

 SPECIFICATIONS:

Hyundai Genesis comes in variants such as:

Genesis 3.8 and 5.0

The 3.8 Ltr V6 engine model has 311-horse power at 6000RPM and has a Gasoline Direct Injection System. It comes with an 8-speed auto transmission system with an all wheel drive option. The 5.0 L v8 Engine model comes with a 420 hp engine at 6000 RPM with a Gasoline Direct Injection System and a Tuned Intake System. The 5.0 L also comes with an 8-speed auto transmission.  Built with 18-inch premium alloy wheels, Hyundai Genesis comes equipped with 13.6-in power assisted ventilated disc (4 piston) front brakes, and 12.4 –in solid disc (1 piston) rear brakes. The 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels are a tad sturdier in the 5.o L model. The rear view mirror comes with compass and auto dimming capability. Also, the Genesis comforts the driver with ventilated seats that come with power bolsters and cushion extenders for that extended comfort. The Lexicon Surround sound that is supposedly one of the most premier brands is locked and loaded in the Hyundai Genesis, with 7, 14 and 17 speakers.

The exteriors include projector headlights with LED light accents, Automatic rain sensors, automatic defogging windshields with humidity sensors, proximity key entry and water repellent glass acoustic laminated windshields . Steering wheel mounted cruise controls, Audio controls, paddle shifters forms the nice interior of the car.

PRICING:

The Hyundai Genesis comes at a price ranging between US$ 37,825-51,500 (Rs.22lakhs-31lakhs) However, the expected price in India is around 35 lakhs.

Bottom Line:

“Safety is the new Luxury”

Sure, it might not hold the luxury tag like BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. But, the new Hyundai Genesis surely defeats these luxury rivals with its own class and distinctive features!

Face Off: Nissan Micra vs Renault Pulse

The Renault Nissan Alliance has given birth to a vast array of cars for the Indian market. With an impressive (and almost identical) lineup of cars from both sides, one can be forgiven for his indecisiveness in choosing between the two brands. We take a look at the Nissan Micra and Renault Pulse to see which car is the better bet.

Design:

Nissan Micra:

The Micra was never the most appealing hatch in the Indian market. Its cute-sy design failed to impress and with cars such as the Fluidic i20 and Volkswagen Polo entering the market, the Micra was in need for a major revamp. That revamp came in the form of a makeover last year to improve its image among buyers.

blue 2013 nissan micra
The Nissan Micra Facelift Improves The Aesthetics of the Rather Uninspiring Predecessor

Although the latest facelift does improve the Micra’s looks, the car’s proportions still look out of place. However, with its aggressively styled headlamps and revamped rear end, the new Micra is a drastic improvement over the previous gen model. The Nissan hatch also comes with a new chrome grille and LED taillights that build on the car’s premium appeal.

Renault Pulse:

Unlike Nissan, the French car maker has retained the original design of the hatchback. However, with subtle structural changes such as the re-sizing of the grille, altered contours and its large Renault badge, Renault has endowed the Pulse with a more masculine character.

Renault pulse review
The Pulse’s Altered Dimensions Add a Bit of Masculinity To The Hatch’s Appearance

However, with its dated design, the Pulse loses out to the more recent Micra facelift.

red renault pulse
The Pulse Is Quite Dated In Terms of Design and Equipment

Round 1 Winner: Nissan Micra !

Interior:

Nissan Micra:

Much of the new Micra’s facelift manifests itself with its interiors. The piano black center console and Nissan’s dual display system are the two most eye catching design elements of the Micra’s cabin. While the larger display is used by the infotainment system, the secondary screen displays the AC settings.

nissan micra interior
The Interiors of the Nissan Micra Facelift Look Far Better and More Upmarket Than the Pulse’s

The cabin is far more upmarket with updated plastics and aluminum finishes all over.

Renault Pulse:

The Pulse’s interiors are relatively rather dull and drab. The company’s choice of colors of beige and grey all over makes the Pulse’s cabin look quite cheap. The choice of plastics and fabric are not up to the mark as well.

nissan micra interior
The Interiors of the Nissan Micra Facelift Look Far Better and More Upmarket Than the Pulse’s

Since the Pulse and Micra share the same platform, the interiors of the Renault hatch are almost identical to the first generation Micra.

Round 2 Winner: Nissan Micra !

Engine:

Nissan Micra:

The Micra is powered by both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variant make use of a 1.2 L three cylinder engine that produces 76 HP at 6000 RPM and 104 Nm of torque @ 4000 RPM. Although the 1.2 L petrol unit produces a respectable amount of power, the engine could do with some remapping for better accessibility of peak power and torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 5 speed manual with a CVT gearbox also available.

The diesel engine is a 1.5 DCi unit that produces 65 HP @ 4000 RPM and a peak torque of 160 Nm @ 2000 RPM. The diesel Micra is equipped with a 5 speed manual only.

Renault Pulse:

The Pulse uses the very same engines except for slight changes to the performance numbers. The 1.2 L petrol mill produces 74 HP @6000 RPM and 104 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. The 1.5 L diesel mill outputs a peak power figure of 63 HP at 4000 RPM and 160 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM.

Although the Pulse produces slightly lesser numbers, the difference in power is almost negligible with no tangible differences in top speeds or acceleration rates.

Round 3 Winner: Draw !

The Drive:

Nissan Micra:

One major issue with any Nissan developed car is the stiff clutch. Although the clutch pedal and clutch movement feels sturdy, the Japanese automaker could have added a lighter movement to allow ease of use under heavy traffic conditions. The Nissan Micra’s compact structure means that the 1.2 L petrol is relatively quite powerful and the Micra that works well under heavy stress.

The inclusion of ABS across a majority of the models and the choice of two or four air bags means the Micra is also one of the safest hatches as well.

Renault Pulse:

The Pulse, although identical to the Micra improves on the Nissan hatchback’s driving dynamics. The clutch pedal had just enough pressure to not be a nuisance in city traffic but offered enough feel for accurate clutch movements. The engine was extremely responsive and just as much fun as the Micra. However, the brakes left much to be desired. The Spongy and vague feel greatly depreciates driver confidence.

Unlike the Micra, the Pulse slightly skimps on safety features such as ABS and airbags along a number of variants. Hopefully the French automaker will understand that safety is the need of the hour and introduce a better set of options in the Pulse’s next iteration.

Round 4 Winner: Nissan Micra !

Verdict:

Although both cars are almost identical, the results speak for themselves. The Nissan Micra is a newer offering that adds better safety options across a larger number of variants and its updated interiors are far more appealing than the Pulse’s dated beige cabin. The inclusion of an automatic gearbox also means that the Nissan Micra is an option to an increasingly automatic inclined audience.

Lamborghini Huracan – HURRICANE ON THE ROADS!

Lamborghini is probably the first  “L” word that comes out of super car lovers (me included) when asked about their favorite super car brand.  I am pretty sure many hearts must have been broken post the “Delhi Valet Parking incident”

The respectable brand that is owned by Audi is known for its legendary super cars. We might have had the chance to drive one of these cars in a game and yes definitely in our dream. Some of us might have heard a Lamborghini roar away to glory and a few of us might have even had a chance to sit behind the wheels and take this mighty bull for a spin.

Lamborghini Commercial:

Headquartered at Sant Agata, Lamborghini is known to always accentuate its luxury on wheels. Some cars that have been rolled out include: Gallardo, Murcielago, Diablo, Miura, Countach etc. Each and every name that has been engraved in Lamborghini’s history has always exuded sheer flamboyance. Simply revving the engine reinforces raw brutal power prepared to conquer roads.

Indian’s have greeted Lamborghini and Murcielago with pride. If you have deep pockets and you’re looking for something cutting edge. There is certainly good news for you.

August 2014 is going to be a happy month for Indian Lamborghini fans. The newly designed car “Huracan” is all set to storm the Indian roads. India is becoming a super-car hub with ever increasing enthusiasts burning their pockets deep just to get the taste of speed.

Lamborghini Huracan

According to Stephan Wilkelmann (global CEO Lamborghini), Lamborghini sales was quite good during 2013. A total of 22 cars were sold in India [We’ve all seen one in Delhi ;)] and the global sales was quite lucrative too. A total of 2121 cars were sold globally in the year 2013.

Gallardo has set a benchmark in Indian super car history after being labeled the most successful super car. Now it’s time for its successor Huracan to rage the roads.

Although the Indian sales aren’t a big achievement, India (out of four destinations) is on Lamborghini’s production radar. (Let’s hope that happens)

Lamborghini Huracan review

Making its first appearance at the Geneva Motor Show, the Huracan has had various love struck eyes glued on to its unique design and more so, its raging power. The Gallardo has been quite successful all over the world, the Lamborghini Huracan carried on the legacy with 1000 pre-orders globally even before the car’s official debut.

THE HURRICANE ON WHEELS:

The Lamborghini Hurracan is definitely a speed demon covering 0-100km/h in a mere 3.2 seconds with the help of its smart 7-speed automatic gearbox riveted to its 5.2 liter V10 engine that is hand built.

Lamborghini Huracan engine
Lamborghini Huracan

Power comes in 2 versions with the Lamborghini Aventador taking the lead with massive raging bulls under its hood followed by the Huracan (a worthy replacement of the Gallardo)

WHAT’S NEW:

The Lamborghini Huracan is nimble, and comfortable than the previous members of the Lamborghini family. The Huracan is all about being modish. The chassis in the Huracan is about 10% lighter than the Gallardo. The materials used such as Carbon-fibre, Light weight aluminum, and reinforced plastic make the hybrid chassis a stunner. At the heart of the Huracan is a massive 5204cc engine waiting to prance.

Lamborghini Huracan Colors
Huracan Colors

Being a smaller member of the Lamborghini family, the Huracan has a 10-cylinder unit, which is smaller than 12 cylinders on the Aventador.  The Huracan’s full name is Huracan LP 610-4 – meaning the 620 Bhp beast has the power on all the four wheels but, the rear wheels get more power. The Huracan produces 560 Nm torque at 6500 RPM. The beast gets thirsty for fuel every 5.68 km (approx 5.68 km per litre)

The Lamborghini Huracan is thus your everyday car. It is built for your everyday dose of fun. Be it a racetrack or your friend’s residence. Be it your business or a driving to be at the life of a party. The Huracan is always your companion on the go. It is definitely a Lamborghini, but it is unlike any Lamborghini that has ever rolled out.

 PRICE

The most essential model by Lamborghini is the Huracan. Lamborghini is trying to crunch some serious numbers by rolling as many Huracans as possible. Although, in comparison it is cheaper and less powerful than the Aventador.

Lamborghini Huracan price

The Huracan will be made available in India from a price ranging from 3-3.50 Crores (only 🙂 )

COMPETITORS:

The friendly bull might face competition from Aston Martin V12 Vantage Coupe (2013) ferrari 458 Italia (2013) or the new Mc Laren 12C (2014)

BOTTOM LINE:

Lamborghini Huracan is allegedly the least pricey of all Lamborghini’s.  India might host the production of these mini bulls. Let’s hope we see them on our streets soon  🙂

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – the Bumblebee

The General Motor’s subsidiary Chevrolet is known for its high class and trendy looking designs. Today lets review a car which is built by Chevy under General Motors. This car has un-matchable aggressive looks and it is probably the best of Chevy’s design ever. It has been featured in Michael Bay’s sci-fi film …. yes you got it right it’s the bumble bee Camaro.

Chevrolet Camaro

Camaro is a well-known car to everyone who loves to see Hollywood sci-fi flicks. Surely it is one of the best cars ever built, and it has gained many fans throughout the world, including the Hollywood director Michael bay. If you have seen the transformer series completely, you will find only three cars in common Megatron, Optimus Prime, and Bumble bee (Camaro). Except these 3 cars the remaining cars change with every sequel. This clearly shows that Camaro is one of the important cars in transformer series ( and for the company ). So without waiting, let’s get in to the review of this amazing car. The basic idea of this car is based on the GM Zeta Platform which is awarded with “the best in show” award.

Even before reviewing this car let’s look into some technical specifications of the car (so we can have clear understanding about the aspects of this car)

Technical-Specifications:

Chevrolet Camaro technical specifications

Yup, the technical specification of the car looks solid. Read on,

Review: Styling

Exteriors:

When it comes to exteriors, the car looks amazing and perfectly crafted. With looks, the car has no drawbacks at all, from every angle the car looks picture perfect. Comparing the new Camaro with the old Camaro, we can observe some minor and as well as major changes in the body. The front bumpers are tweaked and the revamped grille with the V shape and the new Halogen head lamps with glowing LED halo rings makes the car look aggressive and monstrous. These stuff look even more interesting if we see the car from the front angle as it looks like a beast with a big pair of eyes watching us. The tail-lights also get minor changes and looks gorgeous, the side profile of the car looks very attractive and adds a touch of beauty to the car. All this looks even more attractive and aggressive when the car is set to roll on the road on max speeds.  Beautiful creased lines on the car give the car a sportive feel and at the same time it shows the aerodynamic design of the body. The car has an amazing body length measuring 190.4 in total length, 75.5 width, and a height of 54.2

Interiors:

The interiors look splendid with well suited and subtle colors, perfect tailoring, and remarkable accessories. The old Camaro was awarded with Interior of the Year award in the Sports Car Category by Wards Auto way back in 2010. The same legacy is continued in the new design too. The front bucket seats with black leather engraved on it looks amazing and adds a luxury feel to this car. The cabin looks fab with genuine black leather touches making a perfect interior for the car. The suede leather on steering with the central controlling features adds enough vibe to this car and can attract more number of sales to the company. If you are that kind of a guy who loves sporty looks than luxury and elegance, then there is an optional Recaro Sports Seats available for you to customize your interiors. Though the car has a low measurement 190.4 x 75.5x 54.2, the car’s interior look real spacious. The credits go to the designers for increasing the length of the car in a seamless manner.

Review: Engine and Performance

The power to this car comes from the supercharged 6.2-liter and 3.6-liter V-8 code named LSA, which is considered as the most predominant V8’s ever built till date. This engine gives the car monstrous power – enough to drive off the roads. The 3.6-litre V8 is designed to produce 312 horsepower at 6500 rpm and can churn a maximum torque of 278 at 5100 rpm while the 6.2-liter V8 with Active Fuel Management engine can produce maximum power up to 426 horsepower at 5900 rpm and can churn a maximum torque of 278 at 5100 rpm. With the 6 speed automatic/manual gearbox and magnetic shock which are found in cars like corvette, adds precise amount of power and performance to the engine.

Review: Handling and Mileage

The handing of the car is quite amazing and the credits for this amazing handling dynamics goes to its rigid body structure and the super efficient Chevy aerodynamics, that makes the car to move like a skate board on skating rink and Camaro engineers have worked hard in certain mathematical principles in-order to obtain accurate cornering and maintaining the stability on road. The mileage of this car is pretty impressive as it has good mileage range up to 19/30 mpg on City/Highway with the automatic transmission. The fuel efficiency has certainly increased when compared to the old Camaro (thanks to the revised engine tweaks)

Pontiac G8 – the Police car

Today lets speak about a car which was actually “The Lasting Standing Car from Pontiac Clan” – the Pontiac G8. It is stated as the last standing car from Pontiac because after this car was released to the public, general motors which runs the Pontiac Company announced that it has decided to suspend the Pontiac Brand due to low investment and Bankruptcy, and hence the tale of Pontiac came to an end in the automobile history!

The last release from Pontiac is G8 and today I am going to review about this car. This car was first unveiled at 2007 Chicago Auto Show. It was the first rear wheel drive offered by the company since its 1986 releases of Bonneville and Parisienne. G8 was based on the famous General motor’s GM Zeta Platform.

Exterior

The car exterior looks very aggressive and dashing. These qualities helped this car to get a chance to serve as one of the strongest police academies in the world. The muscular appeal of this car comes from its grille; the dual port grille with the company logo studded at the center makes this car look more aggressive from the front. The wheels are 19- inch in length with polished aluminum plating and the two halogen fog lamps at front makes the car very classy. The rare end of this car was equipped with high erected lights that makes car look sporty. The elongated front end of the car makes it a very safe car.

The other features such as the AC-vents in both front and back, Cruise Control System, Sensors for car parking, Satellite radio are present in the interiors of the car as well.

Review: Engine and Performance

The car is powered by a 6.2L LS3 V-8 engine, which can produce horse power ranging up to 402HP, and can churn enormous amount of torque up to 546NM. The engine is new in the GM’s series of Small block V8 line-up. It can reach 0-to-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. This kind of power comes in handy for the police department in order to catch rash drivers on the road. Another feature which has certainly improved the performance of the car was its suspension; the car is powered by a four-wheel independent suspension which can be adjusted in order to deliver high performance on both road and off road traveling. The MacPherson strut used in this car helps to run the vehicle on any type of roads. The Handling of the car was amazing with sharp and clean turnings as it was tested and rated as the best by automobile experts in one of the most famous racing tracks in the world – the Nuremberg ring.

Why need a Four-wheeler? In this contemporary world everyone use cars for comfortable single transport. For that reason, roads are running out of space and maximum amount of time is struck in traffic jams & hence the journey time is increased. This problem can be solved, when we provide an alternate vehicle for a car with less vehicle space and high safety in all conditions. And for that reason the new class of four-wheeled tilting vehicles arrived in to the world and are ready to make their mark in Asian countries where scooters rule the market.

QUADRO PARKOUR review

QUADRO: An Italian designer named LUCIANO MARBESE started up the company, particularly for making three and four wheeled scooters. Quadro technologies have done 450 different design projects on motor cycles and worked for Vespa, Yamaha, Piaggio, Triumph and Moto Guzzi. The founder himself is a designer of Piaggio MP3 three wheeled and Yamaha Tesseract four wheeled drives.

Now, the company has decided to make roads filled with its four wheeled vehicle, the QUADRO PARKOUR.

QUADRO PARKOUR: Parkour scooter comes with the hydraulic tilting system (HTS); it is a pure hydraulic technology and does not contain any single electronic system in process. It makes maintenance easier and less frequent. These scooters look conventional but quite different in design and technology. The Parkour tilting mechanism is its strength and makes it comfort on roads.

A Flexible axle between two wheels is almost near to ground level and this axle is supported by two shock absorbers at its both ends with a hydraulic system and a lock-off value in the middle providing a hydraulic tilting lock.

At road condition when the scooter is taking a curve the wheel system will undergo tilt and produces an expectance lean angle of 40 degree towards the road and thus provides safety for riders at sharp curves.

Ergonomics:

The Quadro Parkour has given a slant seat to drive and step seat for the partner which are wide. The perfection in seat design suits for long travels. The seats are well cushioned; leg room for driver & partner are more than enough to feel comfort. The height of the seat is about 780mm from ground level & this provides clear site of roads for riders. The single silencer is placed between two wheels to decrease the width of the scooter. The under seat storage offers a space of 2 helmets and floor bed is large enough to carry huge amount of goods; this makes it commercially a family scooter.

THE QUADRO PARKOUR seats

Advantages of four wheeled scooters

  1. While braking the distance covered for stopping a vehicle can be reduced (braking distance can be reduced)
  2. Degree of traction is doubled and simultaneously the cornering speed will be significantly increased.
  3. The friction between the road and tire may be increased due to large contact area.
  4. While riding the scooter over uneven roads and dumps the traction is shared between two wheels. While one wheel looses contact over the road, the other may share contact with road and keeps the vehicle stable.
  5. Independent wheel tilting system provides enhanced safety and stability.

On road behavior of the PARKOUR

The Parkour scooter looks aerodynamically well structured with a long nose resembling a horse getting ready to gallop. The test drive reports of Parkour states that “the extra wheel and tilting system provide exceptionally stable condition even at high speeds while cornering” (i.e. 80 km/h). It’s design and architecture seems like a traditional scooter when it comes to the side view and moves like a car in terms of stability and road grip. The 4 wheeler provides double the grip of a commercial scooter adds its huge advantage while riding in bad weather.

When compared to current road traffic conditions, it is clear that this four-wheeler is 5.5 cm longer than a traditional scooter and it won’t be a problem for road clearance. It occupies healthy space on roads and prevents unstable particle two wheeler problems.

Bottom Line:

The Quadro Parkour is a fantastic bike with good stability and road grip, provides a luxury ride with its four wheeled tilting class. It may be the bike for dreamers, who want to wheel the scooters. These scooters will reduce traffic and single transport issues for those who really think of safety rather than comfort like in a car. Overall the revolutionary first four-wheeler QUADRO PARKOUR may replace scooters in coming future.

2014 Scion FR-S Monogram: An Overview

Now-a-days, getting a sports car to our home is a million dollar dream as many sports car prices are reaching sky high!  From Mustang to the Dodge Viper, every sports car price is equal to our full life savings and we can only find these cars in houses of Business Tycoons, Hollywood Actors and Music Artists. Now imagine a car which costs just less than half of the price of those sports cars and yet as powerful as those sports cars 🙂 Today lets review a car which was styled by Toyota and built by Subaru. The car which is ought to be called as “A sports car at a manageable price”. This is the all-new 2014 Scion FR-S Coupe.

Scion review

Both Toyota and Subaru made an alliance to build a car that can be more fun to drive, making the dream come true, and fast enough to call it as sports material. Thus the new Scion FR-S concept was born from this alliance and at just $25,000 USD your dream of riding a sports car will turn out to be a reality. Though this is not a typical Scion, but has some desired features enough to call it a sports car.

Before going inside the review of this car- these are some of the technical specifications of this car. Have a look

Technical-Specifications:

Capture2

The technical specifications look quite good and reasonable. Though it has some drawbacks, we have to consider that with such a price we can’t expect high qualified equipment’s in a budget sports car like this. So let’s get into the review of the new 2014 Scion FR-S Monogram.

Review: Engine and Performance

After observing the technical specification we can come to a point where we can judge the performance of the car. By looks the car looks like an ordinary sports bread, but under the hood the capacity is low. The 2014 Scion FR-S is powered by a 2.0-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine which can generate a decent amount of power up to 200 horsepower. It is not able to generate much torque at all, as it can only generate a peak torque up to 6400rpm ( which is a considerable drawback of this car ). Another thing that is considered as both advantageous and a disadvantage too i.e. due to the flat layout of this engine the boosting capability of this car is low which is a considerable drawback, but this also turns out to be an advantage too as this can help to increase the handling of the car at a gradual speed and due to thee factors, the handling capabilities of this car turns out to be amazing than any other car in its class. In terms of reaching speeds, the car has a capability of reaching 0-60 mph in just 6.4 seconds.  These specs have certainly increased the performance rating of this car.

Review: Safety

Safety should be considered as one of the most important aspect when it comes to cars, especially in sports cars as the chance of facing accidents are high in sports cars than other cars. Scion has powered this car with the safety measures that are quite needed for it. The Safety measures include:

  • 6 Airbags (Front 2, Back 2, Curtain Air bags 2)
  • Anti-Lock brakes
  • Stability control
  • Traction Control System
  • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 5star overall safety score
  • Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has rated safety as “Good”

The new scion hasn’t been crash tested yet, but the previous version of scion 2013 has gone under crash test and returned with some good scores and as the new car is not changed at all – the vehicle seems similar to its predecessor. If tested, there is a chance that the new scion will also score well.

Interior:

When it comes to car interiors, they are decent and not as luxurious as in other sport variants. The car interiors are filled with some soft plastics which in turn decreases the interior looks. When it comes to space quotient, the car cabin looks quite spacious and in the front there is enough leg space but this quotient gets decreased when it comes to the rear seating as they were designed by considering the children in a family. However they can be folded in order to get some extra boot space. The black coated leather in interiors look neat and clean. All the controls in the car are neatly furnished and other features such as Bluetooth and Auxiliary Cable connectivity, Touch screen Radio, Touch Navigation System, AC-Vents, Mp3/IPod Support, Climatic control cabin, Cruise Control are also present in this car.

From every angle the car looks stunning and attractive. The broad front adds more beauty and as well as safety to the car. The distant projected lights and fog lights at front and the red night vision lights are amazing and well fitted. The rear rip spoiler and rear rip bumper helps the car to be in a constant position at top speed. The body is fully coated with a thin paint protection film that adds a glossy deign to the car. The other features such as mudguards, plated alloy wheels, and not to forgot the scion badging looks very pleasing and can seize you in first look itself.

Pros:

  • Price tag
  • Well-Built
  • Handling
  • Trendy Exteriors
  • Sportier,racier feel

Cons:

  • Interiors
  • Engine performance
  • Less power generation.

Rivalry:

The new 2014 Scion FR faces rivalry in its class from cars like

2014 Scion FR-S Monogram compare

Bottom Line:

This car is a gift to people who dream to own a personal sports car yet on an affordable price. For Those who can spend 25K USD, it is not a bad choice at all as in this price tag this is the only car available in the market. Though it is not fully loaded to call it a full-fledged sports car, but it can be called as a Mini Sports Car.

Review: Engine & Performance

The car comes with a 2.2-litre DOHC CRDi diesel engine which is quite enough to generate high qualified power to the compact SUV. It produces an excellent amount of torque ranging up to 420 Nm which is quite impressive and comes handy in order to increase the power and performance of the car, besides being large this power helps the car to move at rapid speeds. The mileage of the car ranges from a 9-13 Kmpl which depends upon the road condition and gear transmission as well. It can reach 0-100kms mark within 9-10 sec at a ranging speed of 193Kmph. The 6-speed auto H-matic gearbox is able to give a precise amount of power to the engine and helps to increase the performance of the car. The Eco-pro mode is introduced in Santa Fe, and it can balance the power aspects and the car and reduce fuel consumption.

Review: Driving and Handling

The new Santa Fe is equipped with a new technology known as the flexi-steer technology. The new Santa Fe is the first model to get this technology from Hyundai. It allows the user to change steering to three profiles such as Comfort, Normal and Sport. While driving in city roads you can set the driving mode to normal or comfort mode and while on highway you can change it to sport mode for a convenient steering at higher speeds. Santa Fe suits for both on and off road conditions. The hill hold function can help you to drive in hill slope conditions too.

Review: Styling

Exterior:

The exterior of this car is followed by the same Hyundai fluidic design principle which gives the car an awesome feel from outside. Unlike traditional SUV’s Santa Fe doesn’t have a boxy design. The aerodynamic design makes the car look more interesting and adds an elegant look to this car. The design off this car was done with compromising the aesthetic appeal and the front grille with chrome plated finish with a Hyundai logo studded at the center, that looks amazing. The projection headlamp at front and ravishing red lights mounted at the rear end of the car adds beauty to this car. The fog lamps come with clear lens that make the road more visible during high fog conditions. The side looks of the car is decent and the 18-inch alloy wheels with metallic flares that match’s the car color looks very pleasing. The chrome tipped twin exhaust outlets add a sporty feel to this car.

Hyundai Santa FE review

Interior:

The interior of the car certainly offers a good comfort feel to this car as the interior is more luxurious than its previous releases. The bucket seats are very comfortable and feels very at home, even in hectic traffic. The front two seats are adjustable up to 12 different ways electrically and the high quality leather touches on seats gives the car interiors an elegant feel. Like the seats as I said the steering can be adjusted according to our comfort, which adds more comfort during long drives. The car controls are neatly placed on the console with LED touching makes the car look more fashionable and trendy. The dash board is engraved with urbane carbon black trim that looks stunning and stylish too. The car is basically a seven seater and looks very spacious from inside and the comfort quotient is good. The other instruments in the interiors such as the tachometer, speedometer, and trip meter and the basic feature such as AC-Vents, Cruise Controlling, and Central lock look great and well placed.

こんにちは Kon’nichiwa DEMIO-Mazda 2

Japanese automaker Mazda has always presented its cars with dexterity. Well, India has an ickle presence of Mazda cars. However, the Japanese Manufacturer has rolled out some significant show stoppers in the recent past.

Mazda 2 Image
Mazda 2 Image Source: www.roadandtrack.com

Ok, Am just going to cut to the chase and be precise (just like the Japanese) and present my take on the mini yet note worthy, Demio (or Mazda 2) . This is a sub compact car that is now in its third generation and drives with a different name plate “Mazda 2”. Prior to which the names were even different : “Mazda 121 & Mazda Metro” . But, don’t let that fool you, because this car carries Japanese Technology and it is certainly an interesting XUV.

The major factor when it comes to driving small and powerful cars is what the Demio (3rd Generation) tries to offer : FUN. It has somehow plaintively avenged its predecessors, but coined the title” World Car of the Year” in 2008.

ZOOM ZOOM:

As advertised, the Mazda Demio (or the mazda-2) had  green and slick characteristics endorsed with a few external makeovers. The Grille has certainly managed to capture a few grins, the new grille that has a trapezoidal design, looks much better than the previously designed grilles.

Mazda2

Let’s go a bit further with the in-depth review of the Mazda-2:

PERFORMANCE:

For what it’s worth, the Mazda-2 (2014) has been accused of being under-powered. It lacks expectations pertaining to the Mazda standards. The 1.5 liter four cylinder engine is as powerful as 100 horses, which is quite less considering competitor cars offering better horse powered vehicles. Sadly, the 100 horsepower engine produces only 98 Nm torque. However, that’s not disappointing news because once the car spurs up over 3000 RPM, the somewhat powerful car delivers a satisfactory show.

Both automatic and manual versions are available. Yet, you might want to consider buying the five speed manual car which is far too nimble than the four speed automatic transmission version. Unfortunately, the gear shifting ratios get a bit curious and the car tends to shift gears quite early (i’m sure you know how that feels!!) Sadly, the automatic version does not have a manual mode.

That being said, the sporty driving characteristics imbibed in the Mazda-2 along with road holding capabilities would give the driver a joyous thrill( thanks to the perfect equilibrium between the suspension tuning and chassis ). The power steering is quite satisfactory and helps you have fun 🙂

The mini Mazda helps you nibble around crowded places and offers a fair amount of driving pleasure. Despite the tyres are a little narrow (195/50), the grip over your Mazda is commendable. It is built to perform well on the highways, but the real challenge lies on the hills where, the Mazda Huffs and Puffs on Steeps. That’s also where the grumbling sound of the engine comes into play.

FEATURES

Offered in two versions, i.e. Sport and Touring, the Mazda-2 is offered in three different colors. Mazda has put certain efforts to promote the Mazda-2, however, the competitors have put in more efficient efforts. It doesn’t offer too many features to go “gaga” over. But, sometimes simplicity might be good, for a few.

If you are opting for the Sport model, the car would come equipped with power locks, power mirrors and windows. The Steering wheel can be tilt adjusted according to your convenience. Key-less entry into the A/c car, rear window wiper, an audio system with four speakers and a CD slot, Audio jack are present. What hammers the appearance and the image of the Sport model, is the plastic wheel covers over painted steel wheels.

The Touring model is a bit pricier and offers alloy wheels (15″) and a few classier upgrades such as a trip computer, 6 speaker audio system, roof spoiler, lavish upholstery, even the steering wheel is dressed up with leather and gets audio controls. To top it all up, the car comes with a chrome exhaust tip.

GO GREEN

The environmental friendly Mazda-2 manages your fuel efficiently.  Being a light weight car ( weighing in at a mere 2300 pounds ), the grad strategy adopted by Mazda has certainly gone lighter on the environment. The five door car accommodates four passengers and is a cute pick. It also has the Sky Active Technology that isn’t too impressive, but is noticeable.

The manual Mazda-2 offers 13.6 kpl, whereas the four speed automatic transmission model offers 12.75 kpl (automatically drops down 😉 )

Fuel consumption is reduced and hence, the Mazda-2 goes a little easy on the environment.

PRICE:

The Mazda 2 comes in 2 options, the 1300cc offering both 2 and 4 wheel drive variants or the 1500 cc offering only a 2 wheel drive option. The 2 wheel drive options are available in both auto and Manual transmission models, where as the 4 wheel drive is available with the Auto transmission model. The price of a 1300 cc 2 wheel drive model would cost you 15,300 US$ (or 9.18 lakhs) where as the 1300 cc 4 wheel drive option is available for US$ 18,300 ( Rs. 10.98 lakhs) and finally the 1500 cc 2 wheel drive variant is available for US$ 19,300 (Rs. 11.58 Lakhs)

COMPETITORS:

The Mazda 2 has tough competitors such as the Nissan Versa Note, Toyota Yaris, and the upcoming Honda Fit (2015)

BOTTOM LINE:

The Mazda 2 has made a few impressive attempts by offering good fuel efficiency, good handling and an efficient car. However, the drawbacks need to be considered too. The under-powered Mazda-2 might be disappointing and as mentioned earlier, the manual mode calibrates a better offer. Rival cars go a bit more on the luxurious side at nearly the same price.  The handling is shockingly abysmal.

However, the Demio (Mazda-2) is a decent buy for the well built quality and its commodious interiors.
