Rumors are abound that Toyota will soon be unveiling a C segment sedan in 2015 to compete against the incredibly popular Hyundai Verna and the Honda City. Japanese car maker Toyota hasn’t seen the best of days.

Falling behind in sales in various segments, Toyota has succumbed to models from other manufacturers that constantly revamp their entire lineup to stay ahead of the game. One of the primary reasons for Toyota’s rapidly declining market share is the lack of models in some of the biggest segments of the Indian market.

A wide gap in its lineup between the Etios and the Corolla Altis has much potential and Toyota may finally be filling it with the Vios. Set to compete against segment best sellers such as the Honda City and Hyundai Verna in 2015, the Vios has a long and difficult road ahead. We take a look at what the Vios has to offer against some of the biggest names currently in the Indian car market.

Design:

The Toyota Vios is far more aggressive in terms of character when compared to its more expensive siblings, the Corolla Altis and the Camry. Although the Vios borrows numerous elements from the Altis, the sedan’s angular front bumper and distinct headlight detail endow the Toyota with a much stronger road presence. The Vios’ heavily sculpted sides provide the car with a bit of flair reminiscent of Toyotas of yesteryear. The overall design of the upcoming sedan may be just the thing for the car maker to drop it’s image as a boring and safe option.

The model currently on sale in the Philippines is also sold in an interesting colour palette such as florescent orange and classic blue. Toyota’s in house racing division TRD, also offers a sporty body kit as an ption.

Interior:

While the exteriors of the Vios demand for attention, the interiors of the car play it safe. Toyota had made use of a beige and black cabin similar to most cars in its range. However, it is also available in a sportier all black cabin as well.

The three spoke steering wheel features silver accents along with a minimal amount of steering mounted controls. A welcome change in an era where steering mounted controls have become a little too obtrusive.

The infotainment system is rather dated for the international model but expect an updated system for the India bound variants. To match the upcoming Ciaz’s touch screen system, Toyota will need to pack the Vios with a fully loaded system capable of standing it’s own even against D segment vehicles.

Engine:

The Japanese are renowned for their engineering prowess and the team over at Toyota are no exception. The car maker’s focus on drive dynamics has generated a youth cult following over cars such as the Celica and the massively impressive Supra. Japan’s Tokyo Auto Salon is a yearly event that showcases Toyota’s incredible presence in the world of tuners and modders.

Powering the Vios internationally are a pair of petrol and diesel engines. The 1.8 l dual VVTi engine churns out an impressive 140 PS of power and a max torque of 173 Nm. The Japanese car maker also offers the Vios with a more frugal 1.4 l turbocharged oil burner. The diesel engine puts out 88 PS of power. While the the diesel mill may seem underpowered, the main objective of the Vios diesel will be fuel economy and the 1.4 l turbo may just trump the segment leading City’s mileage of 26km/l. Both engines come mated to a six speed manual while the petrol variant is also offered with a seven speed CVT (automatic) gearbox.

Toyota has been missing in action for quite some time now and the manufacturer has slowly been reduced to selling commercial vehicles. With its entry into the C segment, the Japanese automaker may be able to regain its position here in India. Incredibly popular in markets such as Thailand and the Philippines, the sedan has seen great success in markets mirroring factors of our own. All in all, 2015 should be an exciting year for Toyota.

EH 1100-5: A rigid Dump Truck:

Among its 12 models, EH 1100-5 is one of the rigid dump truck model. It is powered by a  Cummins QSKTTA60-CE engine which gives an enormous 760 hp required to carry out the movement of heavy loads. It is limited to a maximum speed of 58 kmph. The extreme road conditions do not allow the high speeds and thus steady loading and un-loading is usually followed with standard practices. Their nominal payload capacity is around 63500 kg. Heavy load carrying capacity demands for a strong, durable and reliable chassis for the operations. The chassis involves a fabricated box section and rectangular frame rail to withstand bending and torsional loads. The frames are welded using robots for ensuring higher quality. Additional stiffeners are added to increase the toughness of the body.

LATEST UPDATES IN EH 1100-5:

Considering the tough conditions in which these truck works, Hitachi decided to update them in terms of operator comforts, improving service ability, more payload carrying capacity and also remote monitoring of the trucks. It is equipped with a 10 inches LCD screen for the operator to understand different operations and also allows usage of rear view camera for the operator. Several languages have been installed in the LCD for allowing the operator to understand properly and also do effective troubleshooting. Safety has been given high priority with inclusion of two safety features. One is the ROPS ( Roll over protection structure) for operator’s cabin and the other is the three point seat belts.

A hand rail in the front provides better visibility to the operators during haul road operations. There is lot of noise in their work areas and thus to make it comfortable for the driver, provision for special sound cab material and exhaust modifications has been done. With such huge machines, servicing becomes a tedious task if the components are not at the right place. Hence many steering and brake valves have been re-positioned from the mid frame to the service deck for easier troubleshooting. Batteries have been shifted to the front bumper for ground level access.  Within North America, only Cummins QSK23 engine is available but for other markets MTU Series 2000 engines are also available.

The body has been redesigned to take up to 70 tonnes of payload. Hitachi has added brake surface area to improve braking in wet conditions. Active traction control system allows smooth running of trucks in wet and muddy conditions. This improves handling and also increases production. Remote monitoring has become an important tool for observing these trucks as they works on sites away from cities and population. It consists of a DLU( Data Logging Unit) for remote monitoring through satellite and Wi-Fi. A new feature of speed limit has also been introduced depending on the customer requirements. This would help in maintaining speed of fully loaded trucks in the downhill.

 BOTTOM LINE:

These trucks are not under production like commercial trucks we see as they are made for special purposes. They make gigantic tasks at mining sites look much easier. Efficiency of these vehicles directly reflects on the production at sites. They belong to very large mass automotive categories made using high strength material and various other technologies. Caterpillar is one of the other manufacturers and is a pioneer in this segment. They employ their own Engines for these trucks.

Since the first sale of the company back in 1937, Maserati has switched hands multiple times. Designer Mark Hostler has now rendered an imagining of what a LaFerrari based hypercar from Maserati would look like. Dubbed the LaMaserati, Hostler’s rendition of the hypothetical hypercar is an exhibition of ardor and beauty that Maserati is famous for. Sadly though, Mark Hostler’s concept is unlikely to ever hit production. The LaMaserati is an unofficial concept and will most likely never be green lit for development. However, that being said, it hasn’t stopped the designer from endowing the concept with some performance stats. The LaMaserati will come with the LaFerrari’s innards save for the F1 style KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System). The KERS system is a definitive piece of tech inside the LaFerrari that ushers in an era of hybrid hypercars. However, the LaMaserati goes old school by ditching the system for a lot more conventional petrol fueled horses. The loss of the electric system saves weight and the 6.3 L v12 has been tuned up to develop even more power to ensure the LaMaserati holds its own against the hybrid speed demons of today.

While Ferrari’s LaFerrari evidently draws its design cues from the very pretty 458 Italia, Mark’s design philosophy is a radical departure from Maserati’s current design methodologies. In many ways, the LaMaserati’s development harks back to the MC12. Maserati’s first supercar, the MC12 too showed a stark change in design philosophy to ensure the company’s fastest remained the most distinctive.

The front end greets us with the tantalizing gaze of the hypercar’s LED headlights with the marque’s insignia mounted between the bonnet and the front splitter. Dropping conventional side mounted rear view mirrors, Mr. Hostler has adopted unique roof mounted antennaes. Over to the side, the hunkered down stance of the Maserati cements the notion that this concept is seriously fast. Similar to the Lamborghini Reventon, the new Maserati’s specially designed alloys funnel air into the car to keep the stonking V12 cool. Unlike the MC12, the LaMaserati is a one seater with a pod-like design. Staying true to Maserati heritage, the LaMaserati is a beautiful amalgam of white and blue; the manufacturer’s classic colours.

Jeep to Enter India Market in 2015-What To Expect

Iconic car maker Jeep will soon be making its official entry into the Indian market in the coming months. Although the Fiat owned manufacturer did announce it will hit Indian shores later this year, the brand has postponed its debut date to next year. The Indian audience eagerly awaits the arrival of the Jeep moniker primarily for two reasons. One being the on going SUV pandemic sweeping our nation and the other being the massive legacy of the Jeep brand. Although one might argue that the American car maker has been reduced to making luxury tarmac lovers and family oriented SUVs, Jeep still maintains cars such as the Wrangler in its purest form: a heavy duty off-roader.

Throughout the course of history Jeep has managed to garner a legacy for churning out rugged off roaders. The only SUV in the manufacturer’s range to offer sold front and rear axles and a chassis designed with a primary focus on hardcore off-roading.

Jeep Grand Cherokee:

The big daddy of them all, the Grand Cherokee is the American automaker’s flagship SUV. While most manufacturers these days simply make a bulky car and slap an SUV tag onto it (read BMW X6), Jeep created an SUV with true off-road DNA. While cars such as the Q7, ML-Class offer a level of luxury rivaled by none, the high degree of opulence comes at a price. And that price for SUVs is its off-road capability. Jeep however has opted to keep the Grand Cherokee somewhere in the middle, the sweet spot. Offering a massive cabin, decked up in premium leather and wood, the Cherokee is no village barn on the inside.

The car’s biggest rivals will be the BMW X5 and the Audi Q7.

 

Jeep Wrangler:

The next Jeep to soon enter the Indian car market will be the iconic Wrangler. Praised for its compelling and timeless industrial design, the Wrangler is one of the all time greats. Unchanged over the years since its inception, the Wrangler has spawned a cult following across the world. Without the unnecessary headlights, sleek roofline and fancy paintwork, the Wrangler is a no nonsense SUV capable of roaming any kind of terrain. Unlike its siblings, the Wrangler is no toned down, tarmac lover; built for the road less traveled by, the SUV is an off-roader’s favorite. However, its extreme off-road durability comes at a price. The Wrangler is extremely uncomfortable on city roads and with the poor state of infrastructure and road conditions our country has to offer, the Wrangler is reserved only for the true nature lovers.

Jeep Renegade:

Officially not on the company’s release list, the baby Jeep is a highly likely candidate for an India launch. Unlike the new age crossover movement taking place all over, the Renegade is one of the handful of compact SUVs that can actually hold its own when off the road. Despite its short stature and rather meek engine, the Renegade has been designed with years of off road expertise and the results are quite impressive. For those of you who do not really intend on going for a bit of exploring in the woods, the Renegade is also offered in front wheel drive only format.

For its India release, we may see both avatars of the Renegade. Powering the mini Jeep is a 1.4 L turbocharged engine that puts out 160 HP. CADILLAC ESCALADE 2015- Royal Parade!

Ever since Cadillac Escalade was introduced to the United States 2002, it gained a noteworthy reputation as one of the most modishly designed luxury SUV’s on the market. The vivacious looking SUV embraced the SUV buyers with a luxury price tag of $ 63,000*.

Over the past 14 years, Escalade has received various accolades and rewards. Let’s take a sneak peek at the brand’s history and look at how the escalade cruised through luxury lane.

History: (1999- present)

It started in the year 1999 when the first generation Escalades were assembled at the Arlington plant at Texas (US) the layout of the assembled 5-door Escalade SUV’s consisted of a Front engine and a four wheel drive with a 5.7 L (L31) V8 gasoline engine with a 4 speed (4L60-E) Auto transmission. The second-generation escalades ruled from 2002 till 2006 and were assembled at Mexico, Guanajuato (Silao Assembly) Russia Kaliningrad (Avtotor) and at the Arlington Assembly plant in Texas.

This time the 5 door SYV and the 4-door Sport Utility trucks were launched with FR (Front-engine, Rear wheel drive) and F4 (Front engine and four wheel drive)

5.3 L (LM7) V8 and 6.0 L (LQ9) V8 gasoline engines with 4-speed (4L65-E) auto transmission with a wheelbase of 116 inches and 130 inches for the ESV and EXT variants powered the vehicles. The new models had a new and revised Chassis. The four wheel versions had the “StabiliTrak” feature (electronic stability control system) and the vehicles had power adjustable pedals, satellite radio, second-row bucket seats as well as a tire pressure monitoringsystem, During 2006 the platinum edition of the Escalade was introduced that was priced around $ 71,000. It had a grand touch of luxurious features such as chrome wheels, lowered stance, heated and cooled seats, heated and cooled interiors as well as moon roof and the classiest interiors. During 2002-2003 the 5.3 L LM7 V8 variants that were assembled, produced 285 HP, the 2004-06 5.3 LM7 V8 Vortec variants produced 295 HP where as the 2002-06 6.0 L LQ9 Vortec V8 variants produced 345 HP.

The third generation Escalades were launched in January 2006 and are still being produced (2014) These beauties are assembled at China: Shanghai GM, Mexico, Guanajuato (Silao Assembly) Russia Kaliningrad (Avtotor) and at the Arlington Assembly plant in Texas. The GMT 900 models came in both 5-door SUV as well as 4-door Sport Utility Truck versions with FR (front engine, rear wheel drive) F4 (front engine four wheel drive) and shared resemblance with vehicles such as the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon and XL as well as the Chevrolet Silverado. The 6.0 L (LFA) and LZI V8 variants are available in hybrid and gasoline variants, the 6.2 L (L92) V8 version as well as the 6.2 L (L9H) and the 6.2 L (L94) V8 versions had gasoline-powered engines. These mighty SUV’s came in a 6-speed (6L80 and CVT 2ML70) auto transmissions. Another Fact (that might sound painful) is that the 2007-08 Escalade models had the highest and worst fatality rates with the driver death rate of 33 as compared to 15, which was average (painful luxury) ISSUES: Cadillac Escalade isn’t getting the best of 2014. During May 20th 2014, General Motors announced that it would recall around 1402 Escalades and Escalade ESV (2015 models) due to the insufficiently heated plastic weld that attaches the side air bag of the front passenger to the instrument panel, which would partially deploy the airbag and prove fatal in the event of a severe accident. General Motors had also put a temporary halt on the sales of the Escalades and informed the existing Escalade owners to not allow any passengers to sit in the front passenger seat until they are taken back and replaced. Another recent news suggests that on August 20th 2014 Cadillac dealers are frustrated due to the lag in getting the new Escalades. The time from when the Escalades leave the delivery line till they reach the showroom is quite long and the information on tracking and status of the vehicles are always on hold. The customers are quite upset and the dealerships have put a stop to taking pre-orders. Customers who have placed orders in Feb 2014 are still waiting for their luxury SUV’s to arrive. This new engine has a revolutionary coil-over front suspension and five-link rear setup. The four-wheel drive Escalade does 0-60 in 6.4 seconds, which is quite impressive for a gigantic SUV. The cruiser bike performs really well on smooth roads (Yes, India has a few smooth roads, so cruise and find outJ) The Cruiser might get a little challenging to steer at sharp turns and changing gears on this ride can get a little difficult during challenging conditions. Terrafugia has made this dream a reality by making a car to transform from a conventional car to a flying car. Terrafugia has the vision of making it as a future mode of personal transportation. We will go through the models of flying cars proposed by Terrafugia.

The first product named “Transition” proves their concept of Flying Cars. The state of the art technology in Transition demonstrates the flying and driving features of the vehicle. The car is powered by 100hp Rotax 912iS Engine .It is equipped with glass cockpits avionic , composite body and various intelligent mechanisms to drive and fly. For driving, similar to conventional cars it has the accelerator and brake pedals and for flying sticks and rudder pedals are involved for flight filled with fun. With its flying feature even you will not be missing your trips due to unfavorable weather.

The engine for driving mode runs on free leaded gasoline and it also drives the propeller required for flight mode. It has different dimensions in flying and driving mode. For driving mode, it is 22m tall, 23m wide and 6m long and for flying mode it is 2m tall, 8m wingspan (wing allows lift of the vehicle) and 6 m long. More wingspan is required in order to achieve lifting of the vehicle during flight mode. The maximum payload is 227 kg with a cruising speed of 160 kmph. Its mileage on-road comes out to be 6.7 l/100km. The range of the vehicle is 660 km with 30 minutes of fuel in reserve.

The electro-mechanical folding allows transition from road to flying car. It has two seats side by side and is rear wheel drive for road. Being a flying car, there might be many people having  risks or doubts regarding the safety aspects of the vehicle. From safety point of view, driver can be used for abnormal weather and also the whole vehicle will act as a transition. Also, air bags are also installed at passenger and driver locations. One of which is the TF-X with main focus on safety belts, simplicity and easy usage as personal transport.Electric drive will power the vehicle on road.  Like Transition, it also has full vehicle with parachute system and can be used by the driver . When flying, an automatic notification of problems can be directly informed to the authorities.  The simple upcoming design will allow any one to learn it in 5 hours.

The flying can be selected as manual or even auto pilot mode. It will be able to accommodate four passengers as conventional comfort cars and can go upto 500 miles without any issues in one go. Its compact structure allows its storage in small garages.  A option of auto landing helps in case of emergency landing. If the user is not responsive during flying, the system can go for searching of the landing options and then going on for  a safe landing. If the space is not effective, the landing can be aborted immediately.The development of  TF-X is expected for 8-12 years. Installed licenses in car will help in increasing the landing zone database.

BOTTOMLINE:

Transition will finish earlier when compared to TF-X. Imagine having a flying car and going from the top of a long traffic jam on highways. This would make anyone excited about Flying Cars. The main thing to watch is about the safety aspects of the vehicle and their approval by the competent authorities. When can one get a  feeling of dominance, power, strength, rigidity and the confidence of going through any obstacles whether it is on-road or off-road? MILITARY APPLICATIONS: AM General manufactures four wheel drive HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) for military applications.  You can see the HMMWV (Humvees)  every time with U.S troops across the globe and even in case of any relief work during Hurricanes and floods.They have taken the roles initially being performed by the jeeps. These vehicles are being produced since 1985 and today they have evolved a lot. The design meets the requirement of military which wants durability and mobility. Today most of the components are updated with corrosion resistance to allow smooth running in harsh conditions. The vehicles are powered by a 6.5 litre diesel engine with a gross vehicle weight of 121,00 lbs. The HMMWV seats four with an enclosed metal cabin. The vehicles are made light weight by using Aluminum for chassis construction. An all wheel drive vehicle with independent suspension which help in the off-road conditions. The ground clearance is around 410 mm for easily surpassing the obstacles. Brake disc are installed in board of the vehicle at the differential output ends.  The vehicles can achieve a top speed of 70 kmph.

Looks like Nissan is going to Maxima-ise its profits with the all new Nissan maxima that is going to roll out fresh out of the Nissan’s production unit in USA. Making a debut at the New York auto show in 2014, the maxima has raised bars for the sporty sedan car segment. Maxima did not glide down glory road; Nissan motors had their shares of bumps and bruises. Let’s delve into the history of the Maxima.

During 1981, the second generation Maxima’s made their grand entrance, luxury was of utmost priority. However, there were insipid off beat features that messed things up a bit for Nissan. Albeit the awkward features, genuine buyers did not seem concerned about the premium price of the Maxima. Datsun started becoming Nissan in 1982 and the 810 was given the name “maxima” the car did not undergo too many changes initially, except for a few cosmetic touch-ups, installation of new headlights, while the 2.4 liter V6 engine that produced 120 Hp, remained the same. The Maxima had a 5 speed manual transmission and an optional 3-speed configuration with auto transmission and rear wheel drive. Although, this was quite a powerful Maxima and we might believe that this car would have performed well on the sales sheets, it sadly did not. The main reason were the cheap looking interiors that gave the Nissan Maxima a struggle to survive. Following the footsteps of the leading car manufacturer (Toyota), Nissan had shifted the Maxima car production to its U.S based plant. The 6thgeneration Maxima was all American. Nissan had introduced the sporty SE and SL models. The SE model had 18 inch wheels, 8 speakers, CD stereo, Keyless entry and power accessories where as the SL was built for a softer ride, with 17 inch wheels, heated leather seats, 320-watt Bose stereo, wooden finish interiors and the look and feel of a luxury car (at least from the inside) The maxima cars remained untouched till the succeeding generation took over.   The Maxima went through major upgrades in 2009 and was available in a base variant (S) and a luxurious variant (SV). The powerful engine had 290 wild horses that were tamed by a CVT with an impressive performance. 2015 HONDA ACCORD – an overview

There was a time when the world was introduced to cars to carry people from one place to the other, and there was also a time when style started becoming constant. Among a mighty league of car manufacturers, is one such brand that is known for its presence in both, two and four wheeler segments. Honda, a Japanese automobile giant was  founded in December 1995. There is one such car that is considered a blend of Luxury and sportiness wrapped in a Sedan. Yes, the Honda Accord is on of the most sought after sedan cars that are available in most countries. This car directly competes with Toyota Camry and carries a long history (but I’ll try my best to keep it short, I promise ) History of Accord: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-Rkj6-L0YQ The name itself grants power, status or recognition to its owner. It was considered a boring car in the United States of America; hopefully the all-new 2015 Accord would manage to run over that accusation.

Lets accelerate through 38 years (approximately) with the Honda Accord. It stated off with the successful but diminutive Civic that was one of the most preferred cars in America, but that was replaced by the Accord that made an ever-lasting impression in America, the sales were pretty good right from the very beginning.  With more space, came greater power and more economy (America was facing fuel crisis) and more so hassle free parking. The Accord was initially available as a 2-door hatchback with comfortable seating and logical control/gauge placements as well as high quality switchgear. The car was known for its generous standard equipment list that included AM/FM stereo radio, rear defroster/ wiper/washer and remote hatch release. The Accord had a 1.6 liter four cylinder engine that had 68-horse power. During ’76 American V8’s were struggling with the 140 horsepower producing engines, Honda’s CVCC head design was produced that was not only clean, it also provided an efficient combustion. During 1978, an LX version of the Accord was launched that had lady luxury’s grace, the upholstery, air conditioning, digital clock were majorly responsible for the growth in the sales of the Accord cars. During 1979, the accord family saw a logical expansion phase that added a four-door sedan as the Toyota Corona’s major adversary. It was 9 inches longer than the opponent due to its three-body box style. The engine advanced to a 1.8 liter, 72 hp engines; there were a few more advancements such as oil cooler, power steering as well as a tachometer. Not many changes were incorporated in the year 1980, however the year 1981 was an exciting one for Honda. There was an introduction of the luxury trim level sedan called the SE, this was no ordinary sedan, this accord had style, and it was the babe on the roads. The second generation Honda Accord’s came to an end in the year 1985. But just before bidding farewell, a special four-door version was offered to celebrate its success, it was called the SE-i. This indicates the engine's induction was by fuel injection unlike the other Accords. This limited edition was one of a kind and generated a lot of interest. In 1986, Honda took a big leap with the newly introduced version that was built on a better theme than before, the wheel base was increased by 6 inches and the vehicle length was elongated by 3 more inches. The slender looks were given a major priority. The new accords were bigger and heavier than before and so, their engine’s had also evolved to 2 liters and managed to produce 98 HP with the DX and LX trims and 110 HP in the fuel-injected versions. That was exactly when; the new suspension named “wish bone” was added to the Accords to provide better handling and better comfort. There was a heated up battle between the family sedan producing cars in the US, especially Toyota and Honda and it was evident that race enthusiasts chose Honda ( the Toyota was termed as the poor man’s BMW ) With a few minor changes, the Honda Accords were introduced till 1989. But, 1990 was a revolutionary year for yet another breed of Accords. The all-new 1990 Accord underwent a major overhaul and it was bigger in size and quite powerful, terming this car the best selling car in America. This lasted for a period of 3 continuous years (1990-1992) Only sedans were available and the hatchbacks were completely out, the wheel base of the new cars were increased and measured a total of 107.1 inches, the accord had gained weight too, it was close to 3000 pounds. Styling was given equal importance and the car looked sportier than ever. Fuel injectors were standard and the engine also went through a major upgrade, the 2.2 liter engine had the power of 125 ponies in both the DX and LX versions and the EX version was as powerful as 130 horses. Auto transmission and electronic controls were added. In 1992, the accords were equipped with drivers side Airbags and got rid of the shoulder belts that were mandatory according to the government’s safety norms. Not many changes were incorporated in the years that followed, the engines were upgraded and so did the horsepower.

The new engine was adapted from the 1991 Acura legend and had 170 HP mated to a 4-speed auto transmission, the engine was quieter and smoother than the 4 cylinder versions. There were a few upscale features like the moon roof and CD deck added to the cars. Honda kept on increasing and the cars got bigger and better, the cars looked better, slender and more desirable every time. The new VTEC system was added to Honda cars with a 2.3 liter inline four engine that had 150 HP as well as the newly launched V6 version that had a 3 liter engine and produced 200 Hp. Owing to interior and exterior changes in the previous years, the 2002 Honda Accord had marked the fifth year of the generation cycle. Honda had introduced an SE trim level model which was available in a coupe format too, the audio systems were upgraded, the drivers sear and the power adjustments were improved, there was the introduction of the keyless entry too. The 2003 models had an exciting theme, which was much needed from Honda, and so, the Accord’s engines were more powerful and the design was just the thing to boost up its reputation. The new engines had V6 power and the 2.4-liter engine produced 160 hp whereas the 3-liter version produced 240 hp. There was an introduction of a five speed automatic and a 6 speed manual transmission. That was the exact year when the 3 models were made available again; the DX base model, LX (equipped) model and Luxury EX model which had all the top notch features such as; Heated leather seats, power passenger seat, dual-zone climate control, power moon roof and alloy wheels, there was also a navigation system (optional) During 2005, the Accord made a grand debut with a super high fuel efficiency goal, the V6 engine now produced 255 Hp and its performance was brisk and it could cover 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. The new Accord gave an average of 23.8 mpg which was disappointing as compared to the estimated 29 mpg (city) and 37 mpg (highway) the Honda had new looks, new tail lights and illuminated steering wheel controls, the front seat side airbags and head curtain air bags were added. Honda did not stop, it kept the tradition going, and the 2006 model had a few evident changes such as the revised front and rear fascias and new taillights. The sedan was now made available in 6 speed manual transmission, the suspension settings were revised and the car had 17-inch alloy wheels, the Air conditioning was revised and cruise control was added. The journey post 2008 had incorporated new design aesthetics in the new Honda Accord models, the size of the car got roomier and more powerful, keeping the fuel economy in sight, the styling was quite aggressive (it was adopted form the Acura TL) and it was quite desirable. The new 2.4 liter 177 hp producing engine was better than before, the EX model has a 190 hp producing engine and there was another model that produced 268 hp with a 3.5 liter engine. The 2009 model wasn't too different; the V6 engine produced 271 hp. There weren't many noticeable changes. But all of that is finally going to change with the all-new 2015 Honda Accord.
